Data loss is an all too common occurence. Even with well looked after equiptment; hardware fails and files get deleted. Don't worry; its usually recoverable. Just follow the three simple steps below and then click the 'read more' link to find out more.

1. Don't Panic!
   As well as stress not being good, if you are in a state of panic then you are more likely do something desperate and irrational and loose any chance of getting the data back.
2. Switch off the computer*
   Seriously, just pull the plug. The more time the computer is switched on an used for; the more chance of your data getting over-written.
   I know you're allways told to shut the computer down properly, but in this situation just switch it off at the wall.
3. Phone me
   Every situation is different so the best advice I can give you is phone me and explain what happened. Depending on the problem depends on the advice given. 07506 404 235

If its not a computer (eg memory card in a camera, MP3 player etc...) then still switch off the device and follow step three.
